Kullu
Known as the 'Valley of Gods', Kullu is a cluster of beautiful valleys in Himachal Pradesh. Located between the majestic Himalayas and river Beas, Kullu is situated at an altitude of 1230 m. Kullu, along with Manali, are favorite hill stations with tourists especially honeymooners. Scenic views and snow-clad mountains, towering Deodar jungles, rivers and apple orchards have attracted several feature filmmakers too.
Manali
A mecca for adventure sports enthusiasts, Manali is situated at 6,398 ft in the Himalayas. Located in the Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh, its snow covered peaks make it a popular honeymoon destination. Considered the twin town of Kullu, Manali's scenic beauty, history and culture give it the sobriquet of the Valley of the Gods. When hippies flocked the city in the '60s and '70s in pursuit of their utopian dream, Manali became very popular in the west.
Vashisht
Vashisht is a village located 3 km from Manali across the River Beas. This village is famous for its sulphurous hot water springs and sanctified by three main temples dedicated to Lord Vashisht, Lord Shiva and Lord Rama built just next to the springs. The water from this spring is believed to have great healing powers, which can cure many skin diseases, infections and pains. There are separate baths for both men and women. This place has a refreshing atmosphere that allows one to indulge in a holy bath while seeking blessing from the presiding deity of the village.
Jogini falls
Jogini Falls is a waterfall with a stream running down to join the river Beas in the Kullu Valley below. It is sacred to the village goddess Jogini & is therefore a place of female power, known as a Shakti Peeth. One can enjoy an energizing dip under these cascading falls while admiring the towering snow clad mountains all around.
Below the falls there is a small shrine and below that is a Main Shrine (small temple). Villagers go to Jogini Devi to make offerings & to ask for her intercession. As it is such a peaceful, even soporific, sacred place, villagers also go there occasionally to sleep. Special occasions are marked by the cooking of food & the performance of rituals.
